Is virtualization destroying the server hardware business? That's what the Wall Street Journal would have us believe. In a story published March 6 on its subscription only site, the Journal profiles a series of users who have slashed their equipment count and cancelled new purchases thanks to server consolidation enabled by virtualization. Of course the reporter doesn't quite have the audacity to argue his case in his own words. But he marshals an impressive range of stand-ins for his thesis in the form of Gartner and IDC analysts.
