Novell opens the kimono on Microsoft deal

By Jeff Gould (Information Week / Linux Expert Insights) November 9, 2006

Novell quietly filed an obscure little form with the SEC known as an 8-K. This is a mandatory report about material changes in a company's condition to which investors are entitled by law. Although it contained fewer than 500 words, the form was extraordinarily revealing not only about the true nature of the financial transaction between Microsoft and Novell, but also about the strategic thinking that appears to underlie Microsoft's behavior.
