In “Legendary Days: Adventures In San Diego”, I wrote about Cava (CAVA), a fast casual Mediteranean restaurant chain that I think could be the next Chipotle. In this blog, I want to introduce you to another great fast casual restaurant chain: Sweetgreen (SG). While CAVA makes delicious and healthy Mediteranean cuisine, SG makes a kind of American-style health food. I tried it for the first time tonight and it was delicious – just like CAVA.While I couldn’t find an exact store count, SG’s 2Q24 earnings release says more than 225. With the stock up 238% YTD – including almost 10% Tuesday – I wouldn’t initiate a position here. But I’ve been trying to eat healthier so I finally tried Sweetgreen – and I’m a believer.
