Asian Markets Lower After US Warnings Of Using Huawei Chinese Currency


Asian stocks fell on Friday as reports emerged of US attempts to stop allies from using Huawei’s equipment. At the same time, Nissan Motor confirmed that its board voted to dismiss Carlos Ghosn as president.

US urges allies not to use Huawei – report

The US government is trying to convince its allies and Internet suppliers not to use Huawei’s communications equipment, the Wall Street Journal reported. Where Washington is concerned about the potential security risks posed by the use of Chinese technology, especially the parts that will be used to establish and operate future 5G networks.

US officials have shared concerns about weaknesses in the communications network with representatives of allied countries such as Germany and Japan, where Huawei’s equipment is widely used, the paper said, citing sources close to the issue.

“We are dealing with countries around the world about our concerns about cyber threats in telecom infrastructure and they are looking forward to moving to the fifth generation,” he told the Wall Street Journal.

Samsung apologizes for cancer cases

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics has issued an apology to cancer workers for unsafe working conditions at its semiconductor plants.

“We sincerely apologize to the workers who suffered from the disease and their families,” said Kim Kim Nam, co-CEO of Samsung, “We have failed to manage health risks properly in semiconductor and LCD plants.”

A total of 320 labor-related diseases, including many cancers and other rare diseases, have been in operation at the semiconductor factories of Ji-Hyong and Onyang, with 118 of them dying. The company announced a deal earlier in November to pay up to 150 million won ($ 133,000) for each former and current employee suffering from plant-related illness.
